the scary thing that happened today

So I was walking back to my dorm and I hear this clattering noise. I look in the direction of the noise and I see this guy rolling off of a bike and onto the pavement. At first I think that he just had a mishap and his bike fell slowly over sideways. I stop and pause to take in the situation and ask myself if he would need my help. he walks to the side, off of the sidewalk and is hunched over and I know that he's not all right. This kid had an accident in the middle of a busy walkway and only a handful of people stop to offer help. He can't catch his breath, he has scratches on his forehead, scrapes on his elbow and a hole in his arm where he landed on a rock.

I'm just a little disturbed on everyone's reaction. Many people just observd the action caused by the noise and just kept walking. It was everyone's lack of reaction. This kid could have been seriously injured and it would have been a minute or so before anyone did anything.

Apparently what happened was that he looked away for a second and ran into the curb and flew forward off his bake and hit his head on the cement. He seemed to be ok, but the injuries on his arm were bleeding with ease. While a few more people stopped by, I walked to Talley and retrieved some napkins so that he could clean himself up and stop the bleeding which turned out to be not as bad as I suspected. The bleeding had stopped and he came to his senses and the two girls and I recommended that he go to the health center. This is probablly one of the worst accidents that I have witnessed (other than knocking out Jon when we were playing racquetball). He took a pretty nasty spill and I hope that he is ok and everything is fine.

I'm the not-yet-famous coolest person you know

Hendrix

I got a Jimi Hendrix biography for my birthday and I was reading part of it today. He was the first of 5 children with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. No telling how he percieved his childhood, but I think that it was a bad up bringing. His parents were constantly fighting and when his parents separated, him and his brothers had to leave and live with their aunt or one of the grandmothers. His parents always threw parties even though they didn't have enough money to hardly live from month to month. For some portion of his childhood, he lived among neighbors which would feed him. Of the five children, him and his oldest sibling were the only ones that wern't given up for adoption. His younger brother Joe was given up to foster families when he was three and Jimi was ten so that he could recieve operations to fix birth defects.

That's what I read today, what about you?

Another part of that chapter told of Jimi visiting his father's mother and listening to her stories of indians. He also could play out in the woods for hours pretending to be an indian. After reading this I decided to listen to Castles Made of Sand. I decided for myself that this song is written in part about his childhood. It partly talks about the conflicts between two lovers (his parents) and a child (Jimi) playing war games in the woods with his indian friend (imaginary friend Sessa) and a crippled girl (his sister). Sad story but hopefully I will be able to bring all my faithful readers more summary and hit on the points that I read in each chapter.
